LIMITATIONS

We are a small, local for-profit business. To make our business work, we need to set some rules and expectations

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • We are a karate school in PA. We are not considered as childcare, day care or a babysitting service. We receive no funding.  
  • We run our business for the enjoyment of all, we do not accept any parental interference or demands or instructions about how we should teach or run our business.
  • You and your child are COMPLETELY responsible for showing up/leaving at the appropriate time. No one will be allowed to pick up a child who is not on our list. Under no circumstances will we ever pickup or take home a child – for insurance reasons.
  • If a child does not show up, we do not chase the school, the parents or others if you have not arranged to have them here. We assume they are not coming.
  • When “your” closing time comes, you MUST pick up your children on time. Failure to do so may cause us to report your child as abandoned to the authorities.
  • We do not have cameras for parents to watch/monitor during business hours. Again, we are not a daycare.  That would mean everyone else could watch your children!

NOTES

  • Adults and non-registered minors are NOT allowed in the student area, and cannot use the restroom.  They are limited to the lobby/retail area, unless we have an announced event involving parents. You may not “wait” for your child or “watch” – there is a 10 minute limit for parents in the building, while purchasing, dropping off, picking up, etc.
  • No animals are allowed in any part of the building. Due to the nature of our business, that includes pets, emotional support or service animals. No exceptions.
  • There is a material fee for some arts and crafts project, which must be prepaid.
  • Children must wear a proper mask, at all times unless eating. There is an extra small fee, and these will be provided. Homemade/fabric masks are not acceptable.
  • Children who are ill or exhibiting signs of infectious disease are not allowed in the building for any reason.
  • A snack is made available, and is $4.95 daily – it is a prepackaged, reasonably healthy snack and a drink. Although you should inform us in writing of food issues your child has – if they are serious – then we probably cannot help. NO OUTSIDE FOOD IS PERMITTED (Allergies, etc).
  • No smoking, vaping or strong aromas (perfumes, etc) are permitted inside.

BEHAVIOUR, ADA, etc.

Our facility, classes and activities are intended for groups and are not personalized in any way. There are no “special needs” facilities like sensory room, ASL, 1-1 teaching, etc. We attempt to work with any kid who can safely and appropriately follow along. But we are a small local business, and need to focus on the group at large.

Children must take instruction, follow our directions and get along well with others. Anyone who acts as a bully, is disruptive, harms or is inappropriate towards others, insults or interferes with others, will likely be permanently expelled.
